This is the first article in the series: “Be Your Own Life Coach”. In this series, you will be first acquitted with a simple explanation of life, then you will learn about the working of your mind and finally, the ways to be your own life coach.
So, without further delay, let’s get acquitted with a simple explanation of the life.
What is Life?
Life is a journey, in the journey of this life you are moving in a vehicle, the vehicle is made up of your physical body and all the accessories that you carry in this life. The vehicle moves sometimes through a straight path, sometimes through a curved path, and the journey continues until your death. That is life.
However, as I said, you are in a vehicle in this journey of life. That means you are not the vehicle, you are not the physical body that you carry, you are not the accessories. You are the driver of the vehicle. Your mind is the driver of the vehicle.
Your driver of the life vehicle, the mind, drives in three different ways in this journey of life.

So, in this journey of life, how you let the mind to drive the life vehicle, determines your ways for success or failure. It is just the same as the experience of your bus journey from Shimla to Manali, the experience of the journey depends upon the driving skill of the bus driver.
The driver of your life journey, i.e. your mind should have the cognizance of when & how your good or bad autopilot programs drive the vehicle.
The quality of having cognizance of the happenings in the mind is called consciousness, the very basic source of human intelligence.
Consciousness is a skill of the driver of your life vehicle, i.e. the mind. The driver is on an uncertain journey of the life and the driver needs some basic skills to continue this journey efficiently and effectively. Then we come up with the concept of life skills, the skills required to continue this journey.
What are the Life Skills?
If I have to define life skill in a single sentence, it is- “Life skill itself a skill that train us to drive the vehicle of our life consciously.”
The World Health Organization has identified following cross-cultural skills as life skills in 1999;
✔ Decision-making and problem-solving;
✔ Creative thinking and critical thinking;
✔ Communication and interpersonal skills;
✔ Self-awareness and empathy;
✔ Assertiveness and equanimity; and
✔ Resilience, coping with emotions and coping with stress
We everyone practice all these life skills in our daily life, whether consciously or subconsciously. But, as I said earlier, the only thing that is stopping you from reshaping your life is your mind. That mind which doesn’t have the cognizance of its own, i.e. the running status of its good or bad autopilot programs.
To reshape your life by making the mind aware of its own functionalities, I come up with the concept of conscious intelligence, the ultimate goal of life skills.
Conscious intelligence is a stage where a person is attentive, aware, and conscious enough to run all intelligence skills on autopilot.
I have divided the ways to become conscious intelligence in four steps, these are;
✅ Step 1: Improving Attention
✅ Step 2: Improving Intelligence
✅ Step 3: Unfolding Self-Awareness
✅ Step 4: Unfolding Conscious Intelligence
Each step has its own importance and essential to leverage the life skills. However, the first step, attention is the most basic skill in life skills development; you will come to know why attention is the most basic skill for reshaping your life.
Before beginning the detailed course on reshaping your life, you should have an understanding about the driver of this life journey, i.e. your mind.

Understanding the mind is to know the user’s manual of the machine that you were using since your birth, but probably you were never asked to know about the user’s manual.
So, let’s begin with understanding the mind from the next article, and then we shall move towards the four steps to reshape your life and be your own life coach.
